The Story Behind JAK Pots
Thoughtful planters, created by our family
JAK Pots began with a simple problem: I could not find the planter I wanted.
I asked Jeff, my husband, to create one for me using his 3D printer. As we worked on the design, I started thinking about how much I enjoy decorating our home for different seasons and holidays. If people can dress up a lawn porch goose in tiny outfits for every single occasion, it made me realize absolutely anything can be decorated—so why couldn’t you update the look of your plants, too?
There was nothing available that worked the way I imagined. So we decided to create it ourselves.
The idea behind Cascade
That idea became the Cascade collection and its interchangeable fabric Wraps.
The Wraps make it easy to change the planter’s appearance throughout the year without disturbing the plant. A different color or pattern can give the same planter an entirely new look for a holiday, a season, or simply a change in your room.
What began as one idea has taken nearly a year of designing, testing, adjusting, and perfecting. Each new version helped us improve the planter’s shape, fit, function, and everyday usability.
Designed for easier plant care
Our planters are designed with removable liners to make caring for plants simpler. The liner can be lifted from the outer planter, making it easier to change a plant, move it into another planter size, and help keep the decorative outer pot in good condition.
We also believe every plant deserves a drip tray. Plants need proper drainage, but protecting the surface underneath them matters, too. That is why a purpose-designed tray is an important part of every JAK Pots planter.
A meaningful inspiration
The Woodland collection was inspired by a planter given to us as a housewarming gift by very special friends.
I have always loved its shape, size, and natural character. When we began creating Woodland, I wanted to preserve the feeling of that original design while adding a tray that connected securely to the planter. Jeff developed a twist-lock tray that becomes part of the complete Woodland system.
Because its inspiration came from such a meaningful gift, Woodland will always hold a special place in my heart.
A simpler option
Contour went through several versions, including designs with twist-lock trays. Ultimately, we chose something simpler.
Contour includes a separate, non-locking drip tray for people who prefer the flexibility of lifting the planter on and off its tray without twisting or locking it into place. It offers the same thoughtful approach to plant care in a clean, sculptural form.
